I’ve finished my exams, done with university and on my first ‘free’ weekend, we have decided to pack up and go hiking. The weather wasn’t really promising, according to the weather forecast there were 90% chance of precipitation. Saturday evening we have been still unsure if hiking was a good idea.
Secler Rock was our choice, near Torocko (Rimetea). Sunday morning when we woke up the sun was shining, so we have decided to try our luck and we were heading to Torocko. When we got there it could have been around 13-14 o’clock, the weather was fine, sunny, but not very hot. We were looking for the path to Seckler Rock, but couldn’t find it. There were several display panels with information for tourists in the village, but none of them contained the information we were looking for. After asking the right direction from the locals, we headed towards the mountains…
Compared to Turda Gorge it was harder, it was a lot more steep and the path was full of rocks and where were less or no rocks on the path, it was very slippery. When climbimg, this wasn’t the main problem though, it was very steep, we could climb very slowly, and got tired pretty soon. We had to take a lot of short breaks on our way up, time which we used to take photos.
And suddenly the sky began to turn dark, we could even hear some thunder. We had around 30 minutes of climbing left until we would have reached the peak, when we could feel rain drops on our skins. I thought if I had climbed almost 3 hours, I wasn’t going to turn back, so we continued climbing. We have reached the peak, took some photos, then we saw that the sky was getting even darker and a few miles from us we could see it raining.
Ok, we had to get down fast, because if it had started to rain, the path would become a lot more slippery and getting down would have become quite difficult. We were afraid of getting down, because we saw some people getting down on our way up, and they were struggling. Fortunately it wasn’t that hard, we have slipped a few times, but none of us fell, and in 30 minutes we were down.
Today I woke up having muscle fewer, being tired, but with a big smile on my face
